Our Mission: To raise funds to support, enhance, and preserve the Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Libraries programs and services.

The Fairbanks Library Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1979 to seek private support for maintaining the excellence of programs and services offered by the Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Library.
Some recent items provided with Foundation support are:

  • refreshments for the summer reading program
  • reading chairs for the fireplace area
  • prizes for the Raven About Reading and Cabin Fever Programs
  • training for library staff

While tax dollars allow the Public Library to buy materials and keep the building open, it is often only through private gifts that innovative new programs and services can be offered to meet the community’s  changing needs.  The Fairbanks Library Foundation’s vision is to increase the endowment fund to ensure that the FNSB public libraries can continue to offer quality programs and services.  This will be accomplished by building stronger relationships with individuals, businesses, foundations, grantors and community organizations so that the Library will become the charity of choice for many of its supporters.

For the 2014 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend fundraising season, the Fairbanks Library Foundation is pledging 100% of its Pick, Click, Give proceeds for the new North Pole Public Library. We are committed to raising $70,000, in addition to the $30,000, already raised, to provide $100,000 in matching funds to qualify for a very generous $500,000 Rasmuson Foundation grant. These funds will be used for furniture, fixtures, and landscaping at the new facility.
