Bookmobile Fundraiser

The Foundation is excited to share its campaign to purchase a new Bookmobile for the FNSB community.

The current bookmobile is much loved and served our borough well, but it is coming toward the end of its useful life. Engine hours are high, and many features of the vehicle are outdated. It’s time for a new bookmobile to serve our library patrons!

What is the BOOKMOBILE?

The bookmobile serves the elderly, homebound, persons with disabilities, stay-at-home parents with small children and other patrons unable to come to town.

It serves the outlying communities of Ester, Fox, Two Rivers, Salcha, Haystack Mountain, Becker Ridge, and Goldstream Valley as well as the Pioneer Home, Denali Center, Southall Manor, Golden Ages, Golden Towers, Timber Creek, Moore Street Apartments and Raven Landing.

Additional outreach goes to the homebound, North Star Center, Fairbanks Youth Facility and Fairbanks Resource Agency. Special events include Senior Recognition Day, Park Play Days, local school events and the Tanana Valley Farmers Market.

The bookmobile circulates nearly 12,000 items (books, CDs, audio books etc.) annually.

New Features

Features will include ADA accessibility, movable/flexible shelving to accommodate different routes, and other technology and modern features.
